CORPlaw Launches Unique Semester-Long Legal Clerkship Program and CORPlaw-U

On May 17th, 2021, CORPlaw launched its inaugural Legal Clerkship Program, which included a unique training program aptly titled CORPlaw-U. While Summer legal clerkship programs certainly aren’t new, CORPlaw adds quite a twist. That unique spin comes from CORPlaw University or CORPlaw-U. Intentionally designed to be an immersive training experience unlike any other. Instead of a menial review of material, trainees were inducted into a week-long interactive and immersive training experience. Here, students learned about the inner workings of the business operations of a modern law firm and the nuances of the legal field in corporate law.

Each day of the program focused on developing different skills that are necessary both for work on the CORPlaw team and as an aspiring legal professional. Student clerks received tailored workshops and seminars on subjects across the business and legal spectrum. This included marketing, client communication, business development, legal correspondence, understanding the economics of a law firm, and much more.

After the initial seminars, students received hands-on opportunities to practice during their time at the firm. They began work on exciting, cutting-edge projects and assignments for the firms modern and innovative legal team.

This summer’s inductees included undergraduate file clerks Finley Wells (University of Florida), Albert Manfredi (University of Pennsylvania) and Alexander Cardoza (Florida International University) and law clerk Danielle Alvarez (University of Miami School of Law). Here are the bios on this stellar inaugural class.

Mr. Alexander Cardoza. Meet Mr. Alexander Cardoza! He is a first-generation student who is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations and applied Communication at Florida International University. As of 2019, he has also been gaining some insightful customer service skills as a part-time Starbucks barista. Being born and raised in Miami, FL has emphasized the importance of being fluent in both English and Spanish for him. Alexander intends to attend Yale Law school after completing his undergraduate education in hopes of being able to practice entertainment law. Outside of the office, you can find him visiting art exhibitions, staying up to date with the latest musical releases, and reading nonfiction books.

Mrs. Danielle Alvarez. Mrs. Danielle Alvarez is a rising 2L at University of Miami School of Law. For undergrad, she attended Florida International University and graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. In 2012, she opened Inspire Dance Company, a competitive dance studio for dancers between the ages of two and eighteen. Over the past nine years she has grown the dance studio from a 1,200 square foot location with eighteen dancers to a 3,000 square foot location with well over 100 dancers. As a mother of three boys, Danielle’s free time is made up of Disney movies, imaginary play, and breaking up the occasional wrestling match. She is passionate about education, family ties, and supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs.

Mr. Albert Manfredi. Albert Manfredi is an undergraduate student at the University of Pennsylvania studying both chemical engineering in conjunction with legal studies and history. He competes on his college debate team and is a deputy editor for the Penn Undergraduate Law Journal. Albi seeks to combine his interests in law and engineering to facilitate his entrepreneurial spirit working with start-ups after finishing school. He is a hard worker who is excited by challenges. He is incredibly excited to intern at CORPlaw this summer to hone his legal and business acumen and add value to the team.

Ms. Finley Wells. Finley is a rising sophomore studying Economics and Sustainability Studies at the University of Florida. There, she is involved in a number of environmental clubs as well as a sorority. Before CORPLaw, she worked at Coral Springs City hall in the Budget department and assisted in refining performance management metrics for the city. In her free time, Finley can be found working on her latest sewing project or trying out a fun new restaurant. She is excited to be joining CORPLaw for the summer in order to learn more about the cutting edge of the legal field.

Here’s what some of the clerks have to say about the program so-far.

  • “CORPlaw U opened my eyes to what a legal career really looks like. Walking out the doors of Brickell City Center after the first day, I had already felt miles ahead of what I had gathered from any of the pre-law programs I had pursued.” – Albert Manfredi (University of Pennsylvania)

  • “I felt I had the genuine opportunity to learn about both business and law, something I know you can’t get anywhere else.” – Danielle Alvarez (University of Miami Law)

For the past five years, CORPlaw has had an impressive incline in the success of offering creativity, honesty, availability, and innovation in addition to superior quality legal work for the firm's clients and contacts.

Their motto is “We take legal work seriously, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously.” Their brilliant team of ex BigLaw attorneys has no interest in recreating the toxic work environment commonplace at many elite firms. They were rebellious enough to pose a challenge to the establishment: Producing exceptional while remaining kind and well-rounded don’t have to be mutually exclusive options.

CORPlaw was founded by Mrs. Kristen A. Corpion, ESQ. who is the definition of a modern lawyer. After graduating from Berkeley Law school, she successfully secured a career at the prestigious international law firm Greenburg Traurig which later on, sparked the fire that led her to launch the innovative law firm now known as CORPlaw. The students are eagerly looking forward to cooperating and learning more from Kristen and Rock Star legal team.
